Programs like MyCAA that limit a spouse to an Associate’s degree do not positively impact a spouse’s ability to get the kind of job they desire. If it did, we wouldn’t have an approximate 26 percent unemployment rate.

February 3, 2013: Fighting For Your Education
In July 2011, while serving as the 2011 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year,
Bianca Strzalkowski created an advocacy plan called the Military Spouse Education Initiative (MSEI). The core of the plan is to create a program that works with the challenges of military life, not against them. Incorporated into the MSEI, are ALL military spouses, not just “wives,” not just the 4 branches that fall under DOD, and not just certain ranks… simply ALL spouses.  READ MORE

February 2, 2013: State Deadlines Approaching to File Your FAFSA! 
Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) State Deadlines is approaching! In order to qualify for any financial aid, to include scholarships, grants, and student loans, you must file your FAFSA annually with the Department of Education. Each state has a deadline sooner than the Federal filing deadline. For example, if you attend a school in Maryland you must file no later than March 1, 2013. Do not miss out on valuable funding. January 21, 2013: As the war in Afghanistan draws to a close, the talk among the service branches has focused on “trimming the fat” in order to downsize their forces.  Specifically, the soldiers who have engaged in the last 11 years of multiple warfronts and a continued cycle of deployment may be forced to discharge. December 6, 2012: The Department of Defense releases DoD Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which must be signed by any institution that wants to participate in the DOD’s Tuition Assistance Program. Additionally, the MOU includes many protections referenced in President Obama’s Executive Order 13607. To see a list of participating institutions and the complete MOU, READ MORE 

April 27, 2012: President Obama signs Executive Order 13607, "Establishing Principles of Excellence for Educational Institutions Serving Service Members, Veterans, Spouses, and Other Family Members." In response to aggressive practices by some for profit institutions, the President signed the order ensuring his Administration would help develop principles that would enable service members and their families to make informed decisions about their education while providing oversight to institutions that accept government funded educational benefits.
